Principelle was established in 2008 by a small group of colleagues already involved in advanced wound care since 2003.

The objective is to develop and manufacture new medical devices and provide clinical treatment options targeting chronic and infected wounds.

Participation in the current research project is based on the expected identification and integration of new components for its medical devices. This is expected to enhance wider application of these medical devices. Either a broader spectrum for current devices or the application of a device for specific clinical conditions.

Topical application excludes the gastro-intestinal tract as filter for new substances.

In the course of this project we aim to learn more about the mode of action of components, synergy between components and their effect on health and healing. The information may lead to new products or new markets. The specific expertise in the area of wound healing combined with the identification of new components is thought to lead to proof-of-concept for the artificial intelligence database coupled to nematode C. elegans lab testing. Partners stand to gain from such insights as it may strengthen the business case of Vivaltes B.V.

Principelle is developing thin hydrogel sheets as the ideal carrier for transdermal or other application of bioactive components. Prototype development occurs on the basis of availability of components and correct proportions. The work program aims to contribute to the validation of the platform.
